Many
wines which are produced throughout the world today are
good from a technical point of view flawless, irreproachable.
However, often they lack soul. Wine is not only a product
it must also be a work of art. This exactingness can be
seen in the fifty-some technical operations that are involved
in the vineyards’ annual cultivation (without mentioning
the wine-making process) to which is added an essential,
uncontrollable element : year-round weather conditions.
Viticulturers contrary to lawyers, woodworkers, political
representatives and foremen measure and assess the
possibilities for failure or success of the coming harvest
by scanning the sky. This healthy stress, this unvoiced
worry this is a portion of the soul of Malfard’s
wines.
Moreover, a good wine must be made in a beautiful place.
A viticulturer’s love for his wine is not only due
to its terroir, however prestigious it may be. There is
also a complex affective alchemy between the latter, the
walls and the architecture of the “château”.
Alternately, the grapes must “feel good” in
the vats, in the casks and in the bottles. Where harmony
reigns, the ideal conditions for producing good wines also
reign.
The soul of Malfard wines
still comes from the magic of its wine-making premises. |
